I found it humorous that eBay claims something to the effect of, “when sellers charge too much for shipping, buyers shop elsewhere,” which is largely untrue. When I charge $24 to ship you an item you bought for $1 that you can’t buy locally for under $30, you will continue to shop from me. The reality, of course, is that eBay is attempting to recover lost commissions. Perhaps people would not be so quick to devise such selling strategies if they were not gouged by excessive fees.

Oh yah,I forgot something….How do you all like the new “Paid Program” commercial ‘Making Money On Ebay” ??? Trying to make it look like one of those get rich scemes by some guy that has multiple houses ans cars and a HUGE boat and is showing you how you can be rich like him? HAH !!! thats ebay selling their own program!!! trying to reel in new sellers!!! hopefully nobody takes that bait.Ebay makes money again from you buying their program and then again when you sell on ebay,and dont forget that they recommend using paypal because its the”Buyer Protection with PayPal” BS so they can collect more $$$$$$$ from all of you.

Its time to abandon ship.Ebay makes the buyers believe they are being thought of and its a safe haven for them? Now what about the sellers who have helped build ebay? Well lets just take more money from the poor and give to the rich! Greed-bay,Nazi-bay,Fee-bay,raise the fees-bay,its all about 1 thing now …MONEY… I’m pulling my nails out of that ship and help make the leak bigger.
Here’s the final straw…I recently listed something with a starting bid of $95.00 which is a close out sale,at the end of my listing before I click “list item” its says “you will be charged $10.05 FVF” !!!!! Thats 10% !!!! and they are pushing sellers to use paypal? which is another 3% ? oh,ok,sure let me buy you lunch or fill your gas tank for selling my item.
I PRAY TO GOD THAT EBAY SINKS DEEPER THAN THE TITANIC.
I am passing along everything I find out that is bad to every customer I have and even people I just meet.You all need to do the same thing and give payback to ebay where its due.There are plenty of other auction websites to sell on and I have been finding while doing these searches for “ebay problems” etc. that alot of sellers are just starting thier own websites and selling more and making more money by doing so.Ebay is now so flooded with similar items that there is barely any profit being made,I know because I sell some of the same items from the same manufactures that are being sold,(I know what the cost is)I see sellers making 10.00 when they should be making 50.00,AND NOW with the higher FVF fees,how are they making anything?.They all think they are going to sell in high volume at low prices and …WRONG… its like a dog chasing its tail,not with 10-20 of the same items on auction at once.Oh,but maybe these sellers have only a monthly total of bills equaling $500.00? then that might be possible?
I have found a site called onlineauction.com that is growing rapidly and I have now started selling there.$8.00 a month,NO FVF or LISTING FEES!!!! EAT THAT ONE EBAY.

I’m not a fan of hijacked comments (political on an eBay post) but I will say look at the alternative… a community organizer, a first term senator that has spent 18 months of his 2 years campaigning, no real experience at all. He has gifted speech writers and he is qutie eloquent but I don’t see a lot of substance. His own running mate said he was not qualified and lacked experience(prior to becoming the running mate of course).

Back on track now… eBay… You are right they do what they do… and they are now trying to become what Amazon does and does well. No reason to go to eBay since Amazon already does it. Let eBay do what they do best, let Amazon do what they do best. I’m tired of all the eBay crap. I have officially stopped selling there.

ebay is just like an oil company. it’s all about the profits. people are getting sick and tired of all their fee “adjustments”. i do sell on ebay but it’s been a long time since i had any real confidence in a future there.

it a mammoth place. but really no one, except amazon, has even come close to doing what they do.

they invented something akin to the wheel, fire, television, the internet, the computer, the microchip.

still, they are to be commended. my guess is that it is a near-impossible company to manage. they still have those who love it and make their fortunes, however dwindling, from it. ebay will always have their detractors too.

this is they way ebay will always be. like wal-mart, the irs, a red state politics or a blue state beliefs, malls, ebay will always be in the public eye with much criticism along with some who praise it to the mountain tops.

but PLEASE don’t vote for mc cain. he is going to be terrible for this country. he’s clueless in a $300 shirt. sarah palin went to 5 colleges in 4 years to get the easiest degree obtainable. god help us if they get behind the controls.

Wow! My eBay selling days are drawing to a quick end. I don’t sell much, but these changes will make it near impossible for me to sell with any confidence. For very expensive items, and unique collectibles that I sell, I really prefer the buyer to check out the item in person and pay with a bank check or cash. But I also don’t want to give eBay or a credit card company an additional 3% of my profits.

Ridiculous!
