Vacation Video – Yellowstone Park

Yellowstone Park SignWhat’s could be worse than forcing your friends to watch family slides of your vacation?  How ’bout putting those slides to music and making them available for the entire world to view?   I was cleaning up one of my old computers and found a Windows Movie I made that is a compilation of pictures from a 2004 visit to Yellowstone.  The piano is by a musician named Dax Johnson.  I think you can find his CDs online.

This trip was my last extended trip to the Park.  I’ve been back a few times for a day or two but nothing of any great length.  I really miss it sometimes.  I think I need to add a return to my to do list.  I have a few books that I would like to read and the overlook at Artemesia geyser is just calling to me.

I hope you enjoy the 7+ minute video.  I assure you it is much better than having me invite you over for a slide show that could go on for hours.  As my wife would say… Once you ‘ve seen one hole in the ground bubble up… why would want to see another?  Click on the Write a Comment link below and let me know your thoughts.

  2. Enjoyed your video. We are going to Yellowstone next week with our entire family, which consists of our four children and their kids. Wish you had included some names of the places though.

  3. You are too kind… but thanks… I just reviewed that video again and all of those pictures were taken from the main highways in the park – there was no “hiking” involved. Many of the geysers were shot from the boardwalks through the geyser basins but they are all of the main basins none of the back country.

I would encourage you to drive both of the loop roads and pull over and observe frequently. If there is a drive off of the main road take it and stop and view the waterfalls or the cascades or the petrified trees or whatever it happens to be.

I am a geyser guy so I like to spend most of my time in the geyser basins but once in while I like a trip like this one where I take in ALL of the wonders of the “park”. Canyon area is beautiful… the lake is too… there is really nothing about the park that I don’t enjoy… well maybe the mosquitos… and the price of things.

Anyway ENJOY! Let me know how it goes and maybe share your “home video” as well.
